Talking with Ali Miraj on LBC
It still astounds me that so many people still think it ok to get between trans people and their healthcare providers. The government should NOT be an arbiter of healthcare, nor should the general population. I don’t know of any other group of human beings who are talked about in the toxic way the discussion is going.
The universe expresses itself through infinite diversity in infinite combinations. So, if something exists, it exists. And, no matter how anyone wishes otherwise, trans people exist. They have always existed, exist now, and will exist in the future. Get over it!
To have such toxic discussions over a VERY small minority of people is completely ridiculous. How can such a minority impact the world, to engender such fear in the majority, is beyond me. It appears that this is a primal fear in the majority who are incapable of seeing those different to them as ordinary human beings. I have written something about the primal fear in the article, Transgender: A Primal Fear.
I just want to live my life in peace. Not being hunted as something to be feared and disrespected, and to be called hateful words.
I talked with Ali Miraj about this subject as I feel many people just don’t understand what it is to be trans. Being trans is one thing, but the mental health issues we experience is more than just an internal struggle. It mainly comes from the outside, from people whose opinions target us in ways to make our lives far more difficult than it should be. Acceptance of ourselves as trans people is paramount, but when the load increases through the hostility we receive, it becomes intolerable.
Thanks to Ali Miraj and LBC for the opportunity to talk.
