Talking with Carol Vorderman on LBC

Bulling rears its ugly face again. It comes in every walk of life, and from people who see you as different to them. I was bullied for many years, from school days to work as an adult.

The North American Indians not only had 5 genders, man, woman, gay and lesbian, they had trans. The trans were able to see into both worlds, be that masculine and feminine, they could also be the healers. As Shaman, trans people were honoured for their role in those societies.

In our so called modern societies, trans people are something to be feared. Whether this is the ultra-religious or the far right trying to sow fear and distraction, trans people are subjected to all sorts of damage from bullying to murder.

As a Reflector, I carry a highly reflective mirror which shows people their deepest fears. Many people do not want to be shown this so react as though it is my fault they are hurting. It’s easy to blame another for your pain. It’s only when you find the courage to stare at your fears do they crumple and wither.
