Radio

These are the posts detailing the interactions with people on the radio. Mostly LBC and some on the BBC. It began with Mark Carter who invited me into BBC Surrey & Sussex, in their Guildford studios for an hour to record off air. He then split the recording into four parts to broadcast over four days in 2015.

Talking with Shelagh Again (on LBC)

There seems to be a very negative narrative surrounding trans issues and trans rights. It’s almost, to some, that we are less than human, that we don’t deserve the status of human being, that we cannot be seen as equal and important. It’s very unfortunate that the loudest voices come from the smallest of minorities

The Foibles of Lewis Hamilton

Every so often, more often than not, a person opens their mouth without giving a thought to the consequences to themselves or the people around them. Lewis Hamilton placed on social media a video that shows himself appearing to chastise his very young nephew that he shouldn’t be wearing a princess dress. Social media lit up

Talking with Maajid Nawaz (on LBC)

The TERFs are at it again. TERFs are Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists. Trying to ban free speech by challenging debate and stopping the conversation about trans and feminism is the last thing we need to do. There is a metaphorical war going on because humans have this feeling of an alienable right their views and beliefs

Talking with Maajid (on LBC)

Well, this topic of gender seems more like London buses. None come along for days and then suddenly three all appear at once. This conversation with Maajid was prompted by a Christian family who have decided to sue a school where the school were providing space for a potentially trans child to express themselves in

Talking with James O’Brien (on LBC)

Gender and toilets and clothes seem to be in the news most days now. People do get their knickers in a right twist about things that challenge. Talking with Owen (on LBC)

The trans ‘problem’ seems to be around ever more at the moment. It seems that people are just beginning to wake up to the possibility that there are some people who don’t see themselves fitting in to the gender norms and stereotypes that society prefers to see. It’s a challenge for society and that’s as

Talking with Nigel (on LBC)

The thing about President Trump is that he doesn’t know how to communicate with people who are different to him. He thinks it ok to sound bite thoughts without thinking what the consequences will be. He has no clue what his choices make on the people who have different beliefs or very little in life.

Talking with James (on LBC)

Life sometimes throws you an opportunity and it’s up to you to run with it. I was listening to LBC, and to James O’Brien, as I listen to him most mornings. He says a lot of really good things about politics and life that really resonates with me. He comes across as compassionate and is

Talking with Shelagh (on LBC)

I managed to call Shelagh again and this time to discuss the fundamentalist groups who would seek to destroy our way of life by inflicting terror on our streets. Little did I know that an hour later they would do just that and this time around Westminster. The question was mainly around what we can do to

Talking Trump (on LBC)

A lot of people want answers in sound bytes, tweets and texts these days and don’t seem particularly interested in having conversations about topics to gain a deeper understanding of that topic. I had one such conversation with James O’Brien on LBC yesterday which kind of left me wondering why I had bothered. James is
